I had a blast animating this minute hour clip; the dude is an amazing voice actor and writer. this thing was shown at the animation block party festival in new york.
animated stand up can be amazing. I wanted to take a stab at it with my fav clip from louis ck's first album. he even reached out to feature it on his instagram. neat.
this vid was a combo of 3d blocking and 2d rotoscoping. you can watch an early linetest here. this is the first vid I made after switching to blender.
here's a short test shot for a vid that never made it to the channel. I may go back and revisit this some day, or at the very least reuse the models I made.
buckethead is a living guitar god as far as I'm concerned. the man needs more good music videos
robot dance part two. I had a mind to make a ton more robot vids but I didn't want to pigeonhole myself. by this time I had switched to cinema4d from maya.
after another long hiatus, I posted the first in a series of short original animated music videos. mars was completed in 2021 but I waited to post until the new year so I could work on more vids.
I don't consider this an AMV since it isn't animated, but it has the same spirit. my original idea was to rescore the entire movie but that proved to be too big of a bite to chew.
my final AMV. I went ham with this thing and commited an AMV sin: I used more than one song.
I wasn't making any animations or original videos at this time because we were too busy rocking out
another shitpost that briefly went viral during peak game of thrones hysteria. the original vid racked up a few million views before being taken down due to copyright.
danger hosted another video editing tournament in 2014, this time with the stipulation to make the clip 30 sec or less. I won third place, which got me a shirt and vinyl. fuck yea.
I still remember where I was when I had the idea for this vid: on a work trip boarding a plane, listening to windowlicker. I knew I had to sync the laser and the beat drop.
attempting to capitalize on my new found fame, I put together a little animation of some outrageous comments from the previous vid.
I didn't do much for this vid. I simply browsed r/gifsound, picked my top favs from the year, and stitched em together. the result? 8 million views and 10k subs in one weekend. wtf.
my first magnum opus. two years of on-and-off effort from idea to completion. the after effects file for this thing was a total monstrosity by the end. zero precomps!!
the third and final part of my 2012 AMV triptych. this one did not fare as well as the previous two. I tried posting it on r/videos but instead I was BANNED for self promotion. damn.
I consider this my best and favourite AMV. created only weeks after the animaniacs vid, this one also blew up due to a post on r/videos.
another taste of virality. this time I mashed up animaniacs and skrillex, and it blew up due to a post I made on the music subreddit.
check out this awesome video I unsafely shot while driving home on the freeway after work. very cool.
around this time the machinations of gamedev started to take hold. I created tons of character concepts, but this was the only one I modeled and rigged.
I ended my youtube hiatus with the first of many AMVs. originally made for a video editing tournament held by the music artist danger, the vid got almost no views until 2018, when the algorithm went crazy with it.
after making this vid I shared it with the band and they posted it on their myspace page, where it racked almost 100k views in its first year. my first taste of viral success.
fresh off the chocolate rain high, we attempted a silly take on the many "how to solve a rubik's cube" vids that still swirl on youtube. it hasn't aged well but I still love the ending.
the fond memories of early youtube always come flooding back when I watch this classic vid. my brother and I loved the original and we shot this thing in an afternoon.
my co-worker friends and I thought we'd have some fun on our closing shifts in the self-serve warehouse. me and one other dude were ultimately let go as a result of our shenanigans.
this was my final project for my animation undergrad. I recorded a video of myself as a reference for the main dude's movement. I'd love to re-render an HD version at some point.
my first 3d animation, made in maya for a class in college. they gave us these humanoid rigs and told us to animate a scene of our choosing. you can see the strong IKEA influence in the furniture.
an ancient take on counter-strike. I was originally going to cut out and add the images for the guns/hands but never got around to it. still holds up thanks to the sfx.
another nonsensical home video. the concept for this vid involved the strange origins of badminton, phones, and rave dancing.
in high school we had to create a presentation on poetry, so of course I had to make mine a video. authentic potato quality. watch at your own peril.
